Spicy Wontons made in Rice Cooker

Ingredients

For the Wontons:

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine (or rice wine)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • 30-40 wonton wrappers

For the Chili Oil Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp chili oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Chinese black vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

For Cooking:

  • 6 cups water
  • Green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Directions

  1. Combine ground pork, soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sesame oil, ginger, green onions, cornstarch, salt, and white pepper in a bowl. Mix until fully combined.
  2. Place 1 tsp of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Wet the edges with water, fold, and seal.
  3. Add 6 cups of water to the rice cooker pot and press the “Cook” switch. Once boiling, add the wontons and cook for 5-7 minutes until they float.
  4. In a bowl, combine chili oil, soy sauce, black vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Transfer cooked wontons to a bowl, drizzle with chili oil sauce, and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
