Japanese Fried Rice

  • 4 cups white rice, cooked
  • 1 tbsp dried Hijiki seaweed
  • 1 cup fried tofu, cut into thin strips
  • ½ cup carrots, shredded
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sake
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp mirin
  • 3-4 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ cup edamame beans


  1. Re-hydrate the Hijiki seaweed in one cup of water for 20 minutes.
  2. Prepare the rice in your Aroma rice cooker while the seaweed soaks.
  3. Add the sesame oil to your Aroma wok and heat to medium. Once hot, add the seaweed, fried tofu, and carrots and sauté to combine ingredients.
  4. Add the sake, sugar, mirin, and soy sauce. Mix well.
  5. Add the edamame and steamed rice. Sauté until rice is broken up and well combined, then serve immediately.
