Rainbow Dumpling

  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup carrot juice
  • 1/4 cup spinach juice
  • 1/4 cup beet juice
  • 1/4 cup turmeric juice


  • 1/3 lb ground pork
  • 2/3 cup cabbage, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt


  1. For the dough, separate 2 cup flours to 4 bowls of 1/2 cup flours. Slowly add each juice to each bowl of flours, stop before it becomes fully dough-like. Dumpling dough should be drier than regular dough.
  2. Wrapped the dough in plastic wrap and rest for at least 15 minutes, up to 2 hours.
  3. For the filling, combine all other ingredients in a large bowl.
  4. Separate each color dough into 6 equal parts. Floured the work surface and the rolling pin. Roll out the dough into even, flat circles about your palm size.
  5. Fill each dumpling with a tbsp of the filling in the center. Fold the circle in half over the filling. Lightly squeeze the top edge of the dumpling. Clasp one end of the dumpling between your thumb and index finger to pinch it shut, repat on the other side of the dumpling. Inspect the dumpling for any fissures and pinch them shut. Repeat with the rest of the wrappers.
  6. Place 8 dumplings in the steam tray and pour 2 cups of water into inner pot. Set Steam function for 15 minutes for cooking. Repeat the steaming part until all dumplings been cooked.
