Taiwanese Sticky Rice

  • 5 cups sweet rice
  • 7 shiitake mushrooms, diced
  • 2 tbsp dried shrimp
  • 5 Chinese sausages, diced
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce


  1. Turn on the rice cooker and preheat the inner pot using the Sauté-then-Simmer® STS function.
  2. Once the inner pot is preheated, add the diced Chinese sausages. Sauté for about 10 minutes or until the sausages are browned on all sides.
  3. Mix in the dried shrimp and diced shiitake mushrooms. Sauté for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Add the sweet rice to the pot, along with the soy sauce and sugar. Stir well to ensure that the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  5. Cancel the Sauté-then-Simmer function.
  6. Pour 3 cups of water into the inner pot.
  7. Select the White Rice function on the rice cooker and allow the rice to cook until the cooker automatically switches to Keep Warm mode.
  8. Once the rice is cooked, serve and enjoy your delicious sweet rice with Chinese sausage, mushrooms, and dried shrimp!
