Sweet Red Bean Soup with Tang Yuan (Rice Balls Dessert)

  • 2 cup dried red bean
  • 8 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp orange zest
  • 1/2 cup Tang Yuan (store-bought rice ball dessert)


  1. Rinse red beans under cold water, then drain thoroughly.
  2. Transfer red beans to the purple clay inner pot of the Aroma rice cooker.
  3. Add water and orange zest, then set the rice cooker to Slow Cook mode for 5 hours.
  4. Once the Slow Cook cycle is complete, switch the cooker to White Rice mode.
  5. Open the lid, stir in the sugar, and bring the red bean soup to a boil.
  6. Once the soup is boiling, add Tang Yuan to the pot. Cook for another 1 minute, or until Tang Yuan float to the top and are fully cooked.
  7. Sever hot and enjoy!
